Preview: Dr. Phillips Panthers vs. Ocoee Knights
The Dr. Phillips Panthers will head out on the road to face off against the Ocoee Knights at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Friday, Dr. Phillips was able to grind out a solid win over West Orange, taking the game 10-3.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Dr. Phillips to victory, but perhaps none more so than Stanley Anderson-lofton, who threw for 64 yards and a touchdown. Amari Major and his 83 yards on the ground were also a key factor in Dr. Phillips' win.
Ocoee can finally bid farewell to their three-game losing streak thanks to their game on Friday. They blew past Windermere 52-21 on the road. The win was just what Ocoee needed coming off of a 46-0 loss in their prior game.
Ocoee got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Tavion Greaves out in front who picked up 172 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Greaves' longest reception was for an incredible 70 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Joshua Guerrier, who rushed for 61 yards and two touchdowns on only five carries.
Dr. Phillips is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 5-3 record this season. As for Ocoee, their win bumped their record up to 4-5.
Dr. Phillips skirted past Ocoee 28-25 when the teams last played back in October of 2022. The rematch might be a little tougher for Dr. Phillips since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
