Whiteland has gone 8-2 against Martinsville recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Whiteland Warriors will venture away from home to square off against the Martinsville Artesians at 7:30 p.m. Martinsville took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Whiteland, who comes in off a win.

Whiteland is headed into the contest after thoroughly thrashing Pendleton Heights: they outscored them in every quarter. Whiteland strolled past Pendleton Heights with points to spare on Saturday, taking the game 67-53. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Warriors.

Meanwhile, Martinsville was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were a single point away from ending the streak, but they lost a 74-73 heartbreaker at the hands of Mooresville. While losing is never fun, the Artesians can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 264th, while the Pioneers are ranked 117th).

The match pitted two dominant guards against one another in Grady Gardner and Aj Defur. Defur had a solid game and went 5-for-9 en route to 13 points. Meanwhile, Gardner was balling out in the loss, going 8-for-19 on his way to 34 points.

Martinsville's loss dropped their record down to 5-14. As for Whiteland, their victory bumped their record up to 10-11.

Everything went Whiteland's way against Martinsville in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, as Whiteland made off with a 75-53 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Whiteland since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
