Recap: Lampeter-Strasburg Pioneers vs. Cocalico Eagles
The Lampeter-Strasburg Pioneers came tearing into Thursday's game with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 17 points) and they left with even more momentum. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Cocalico and snuck past 56-53. That's another feather in the cap for Lampeter-Strasburg, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
It was another big night for Chase Smucker, who scored 18 points along with two steals. He is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last ten games he's played. Dean Herr was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Lampeter-Strasburg has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 16-6 record this season. As for Cocalico, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 11-9.
Lampeter-Strasburg will stay at home for another game and welcome Penn Manor at 7:00 p.m. on February 12th. Lampeter-Strasburg knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past seven contests -- so hopefully Penn Manor likes a good challenge. As for Cocalico, they won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Northern Lebanon at 7:30 p.m. on February 9th. Hopefully Cocalico is not getting complacent considering they own a much higher rank in Pennsylvania (they are ranked 263rd, while Northern Lebanon is ranked 584th).
