Softball Recap: Make It Two in a Row for Clifton Central

Clifton Central never let their opponents score on Tuesday. They didn't even let the St. Anne Cardinals on the board, marking the Comets' second-straight 10-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Comets, who have now won five games by ten runs or more so far this season.

Clifton Central got a great performance from Sydney Jemar as she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 13 over five innings pitched. Jemar has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Ella Ponton, who went 2-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Mia Koch-Perzee, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

The win made it two in a row for Clifton Central and bumps their season record up to 7-4-1. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 0 runs in those games. As for St. Anne, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-3.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Clifton Central beat the Cardinals by a score of 11-1 on Thursday.
