Basketball Recap: Ty Lange and Walker Montague Secure Win for Cardinal Gibbons + How To Watch

Cardinal Gibbons put another one in the bag on Saturday to keep their perfect season alive. They were the clear victors by a 76-53 margin over the Garinger Wildcats. That's two games straight that the Crusaders have won by exactly 23 points.

Leading Cardinal Gibbons to victory were Walker Montague and Ty Lange. Montague shot 67% from the field on his way to 14 points in addition to eight assists and three blocks, while Lange went 7-for-10 to rack up 15 points and five rebounds. Those eight assists gave Montague a new career-high. Will Yardley was another key player, putting up ten points.

They weren't the only ones working in the assist department: Cardinal Gibbons was working as a unit and finished the game with 23 assists. They racked up nine more assists than Garinger's also-impressive total of 14.

Garinger lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Jadarian Dixon, who posted 13 points. Josh Brown also deserves some recognition as he scored his first points of the season.

Cardinal Gibbons' win bumped their record up to 3-0. As for Garinger, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-3.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Cardinal Gibbons will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Ravenscroft at 7:30 p.m. on December 3. As for Garinger, they will be defending their home court for the first time this season when they go up against Ballantyne Ridge at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Wildcats will need to watch out since the Wolves have now posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season.
