Football Recap: Chincoteague Wins Going Away Against Greenbrier Christian Academy + How To Watch

Chincoteague extended their winning streak to three on Friday, bumping them up to 4-2. They put the hurt on the Greenbrier Christian Academy Gators with a sharp 46-25 victory. That 21 point margin sets a new team best for the Ponies this season.

Camaury Davis had another great game (as he tends to do), rushing for 157 yards and two scores on only 15 carries. He has become a key player for Chincoteague: the team is undefeated when he posts at least 100 rushing yards, but 1-2 otherwise. Speaking of playmakers, who could forget Makoa Busquets, who went all the way with a kickoff return for a touchdown.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Chincoteague was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 237 rushing yards. They are a perfect 3-0 when they've run for more than 200 yards.

As for Greenbrier Christian Academy, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-4 record this season. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last six times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

When it comes to explaining why Greenbrier Christian Academy lost, don't look at Tucker Basnight. Despite the final result, he rushed for 164 yards and a pair of touchdowns, and also picked up 57 receiving yards. Basnight's rushing production has been exceptional for a while as that marked his ninth straight game with at least 151 rushing yards dating back to last season. Another player making a difference was Tyson Moravec, who threw for 124 yards and one TD.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Chincoteague will venture away from home to face off against Brunswick Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The Ponies will need to watch out since the Vikings have now posted at least 31 points in their last three contests. As for Greenbrier Christian Academy, they will head out to square off against Fishburne Military at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
