It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Woodbury ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Cretin-Derham Hall Raiders, sneaking past 10-9. Ten seems to be a good number for the Royals as the team scooped up a win with the same number of runs in their previous game.

Cora Johnson and Maleah Hill did most of the damage at the plate: Johnson got on base in four of her five plate appearances with one home run, two runs, and one double, while Hill went a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run and three RBI. That's the most runs Johnson has posted over her last 12 matchups. Another player making a difference was Lili Zamorano, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.

The victory made it two in a row for Woodbury and bumps their season record up to 8-9. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for Cretin-Derham Hall, their loss dropped their record down to 8-8.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Woodbury will head out to take on Forest Lake at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. The Rangers will roll in looking for their eighth straight victory, something the Royals surely won't give up without a fight. As for Cretin-Derham Hall, they are taking a road trip to face off against Stillwater at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.
