St. Dominic faced Incarnate Word Academy in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Crusaders blew past the Red Knights 3-0. For the Crusaders, this counts as revenge for the 3-2 win the Red Knights walked away with the last time they faced one another back in October of 2024.

The victory didn't come easy: Incarnate Word Academy scored at least 18 points in every set. The match finished with set scores of 25-18, 29-27, 25-22.

Maria Nettler paced St. Dominic's offense, picking up 12 kills. Nettler got some help from Charlotte Bland and her 30 assists. Emily Frazier and Natalie Frazier kept things locked in from the service line: the pair finished with two aces apiece.

Despite the defeat, Incarnate Word Academy saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Kendall Stroer had ten digs and one assist. Kylee Donahue also deserves some recognition as she had her first block of the season.

St. Dominic's win bumped their record up to 22-8-2. As for Incarnate Word Academy, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 21-14 record this season.

St. Dominic wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 3-2 loss against Cor Jesu Academy on the 20th. As for Incarnate Word Academy, they have also already played their next matchup, a 3-0 victory against Hazelwood West on the 21st.
