Baseball Recap: Hanover Takes a Loss

If Hanover was riding high fresh off their 15-5 takedown of Montpelier last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Bears took a 6-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Champlain Valley Union Redhawks on Friday.

Hanover saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Hayden Avard, who scored a run while going 2-for-3. That run marked the first that Avard scored this season. Jack Lobb was another, getting no hits.

Hanover's defeat dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Champlain Valley Union, the victory got them back to even at 1-1.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Hanover will challenge Lebanon at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The game will give the Bears their first taste of in-conference action this season. As for Champlain Valley Union, they will be playing at home against Mt. Abraham at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
