Softball Recap: St. Stephens Indians vs. Hickory Red Tornadoes
While St. Stephens put up plenty of runs on Friday, the same can't be said for Hickory. The St. Stephens Indians blew past the Hickory Red Tornadoes 16-0. The victory made it back-to-back wins for St. Stephens.
Anicka McFarland was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and only one hit while striking out eight over four innings pitched. McFarland has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in four consecutive pitching appearances. McFarland was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing two bases while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances.
In other batting news, Samantha Midea was excellent, scoring three runs while going 1-for-3. Allie Gilmore was another key contributor, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-4.
St. Stephens has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a massive bump to their 6-10 record this season. As for Hickory, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-12.
