Western Branch won the last time they faced Nansemond River and things went their way on Thursday too. The Western Branch Bruins walked away with an 8-3 victory over the Nansemond River Warriors. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Bruins.

Wilson Tone made a splash while hitting and pitching. He pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Tone was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing Three bases. while going 3-for-3.

In other pitching news, Ian Taylor looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched.

Back at the plate, Markel Smith and Logan Adams did most of the damage at the plate: Smith scored a run and stole Two bases. while going 2-for-3, while Adams scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. That's the most runs Adams has posted since back in March of 2024. Jackson Walter was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Western Branch's record now sits at 2-0. As for Nansemond River, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 0-2.

Coming up, Western Branch will welcome Kellam at 5:45 p.m. on Monday. As for Nansemond River, they will head out to square off against Nansemond-Suffolk Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Nansemond-Suffolk Academy will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something Nansemond River surely won't give up without a fight.
