Softball Recap: Newman Smith Comes Up Short

Newman Smith was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 33rd straight loss dating back to last season. They might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 12-0 to the Wakeland Wolverines, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Wolverines this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 16-0 back in March.

Newman Smith's defeat dropped their record down to 0-18. As for Wakeland, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-4 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Newman Smith is set to square off against their familiar foe The Colony at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Wakeland will take on rival Highland Park at 6:45 p.m. on Tuesday.
