Softball Game Preview: Cheshire Academy Cats vs. Williston Northampton Wildcats

The Cheshire Academy Cats will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they take on the Williston Northampton Wildcats at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

On Wednesday, Cheshire Academy needed a bit of extra time to put away Ethel Walker. They walked away with a 9-5 victory over Ethel Walker.

E Dibennedetto spent all nine innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on 12 hits and racked up 13 Ks.

At the plate, M Stanford and K Durkin did most of the damage at the plate: Stanford scored two runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-5, while Durkin scored two runs and stole three bases while going 2-for-4. A Sutera was another key player, going 1-for-5 with one home run and two RBI.

Meanwhile, Williston Northampton gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Wednesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 7-5 win over Miss Porter's.

Cheshire Academy came out on top in a nail-biter against Williston Northampton when the teams last played back in May of 2023, sneaking past 1-0. Do the Cats have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Wildcats turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
