Basketball Recap: Rank Disadvantage No Problem for Hornell

Hornell can bid farewell to their three-game losing streak thanks to their game on Thursday. They had just enough and edged the Avon Braves out 53-51. The win was all the more spectacular given the Red Raiders' disadvantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 297th, while the Braves are ranked 79th).

Hornell's victory bumped their record up to 8-5. As for Avon, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 10-3.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hornell won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Wayland-Cohocton at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hornell is facing Wayland-Cohocton at the right time seeing as Wayland-Cohocton is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Avon, they will also get right back to it: they'll challenge Caledonia-Mumford at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
