Softball Recap: Concordia's Victory on Monday Extends Winning Streak to 11

With a playoff win on the line, Concordia rose to the challenge on Monday. They were the clear victors by a 10-2 margin over the Bernie Mules. Considering the Fighting Orioles have won 19 contests by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Olivia Hemme made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out 14 batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than nine strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Ava Mueller was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Cheyanne Fitzpatrick, who went 2-for-3 with one run.

The win was the 11th in a row for Concordia, bringing their record up to 26-4. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Bernie, they moved to 31-8 with that loss, which also ended their five-game winning streak.

Concordia didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, a 3-0 win against Lockwood on the 27th. As for Bernie, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 3-2 defeat against Oak Ridge on the 28th.
