Saratoga Springs has gone 6-1 against Bethlehem Central recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Wednesday. The Blue Streaks will be playing in front of their home fans against the Eagles at 4:15 p.m. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
Bethlehem Central will take on a team with plenty of momentum: Saratoga Springs extended their winning streak to five on Monday. The Blue Streaks put the hurt on Albany Academy for Boys with a sharp 14-5 win.
Brady Mills made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Mills was even better at the plate, going 2-for-3 with three runs, one double, and one RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2024.
In other pitching news, Peyton Keegan looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (five).
Back at the plate, Saratoga Springs let Adam Weiss and Raul Rodriguez run wild. Weiss went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base, while Rodriguez went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. That's the most RBI Weiss has posted since back in April. Jack Rigabar was another key player, going 1-for-4 with two stolen bases and one run.
Saratoga Springs always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .550. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Albany Academy for Boys only posted an OBP of .344.
Meanwhile, Bethlehem Central made easy work of Maple Hill on Tuesday and carried off a 13-7 victory.
Owen Turner was a standout: he went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, two RBI, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Ryan O'Connell, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one double.
Saratoga Springs' win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-6. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for Bethlehem Central, their win bumped their record up to 5-11.
Everything went Saratoga Springs' way against Bethlehem Central in their previous matchup back in April, as Saratoga Springs made off with a 17-3 victory. Will the Blue Streaks repeat their success, or do the Eagles have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
