Baseball Recap: Madison Comes Up Short

Madison had lost three straight at home, but on Monday they dropped their record down to 12-11-1 to make it four. They lost 15-5 to the Scotts Hill Lions. If the Mustangs were looking for revenge after losing 7-1 to the Lions when the teams met back in April of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Ryker Stegall stepped up to lead a balanced group of hitters: he went 1-for-2 with three RBI. Dylan Stranak was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two runs and one stolen base.

As for Scotts Hill, their victory bumped their record up to 7-14-1. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for their hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.

On Scotts Hill's side, Cy Maness was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with three runs, four RBI, and one triple. Those four RBI gave Maness a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Brady Beecham, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base.

While Madison had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:40 p.m. on Tuesday.
