Preview: Crete-Monee Warriors vs. Kankakee Kays
Crete-Monee is 1-9 against Kankakee since February of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Crete-Monee Warriors will head out on the road to square off against the Kankakee Kays at 6:30 p.m. Crete-Monee will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Illinois Rankings (they are ranked 203rd, while Kankakee is ranked 31st).
After a string of three wins, Crete-Monee's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They fell 55-42 to Bloom.
Meanwhile, even though Thornwood scored an imposing 63 points on Tuesday, Kankakee still came out on top. Kankakee took their game against Thornwood 73-63. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Kankakee.
Crete-Monee's loss dropped their record down to 12-14. As for Kankakee, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 21-3 record this season.
Crete-Monee was able to grind out a solid win over Kankakee in their previous meeting back in February of 2023, winning 52-45. The rematch might be a little tougher for Crete-Monee since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
