Softball Recap: Spring Valley Comes Up Short

Spring Valley entered their game against Basic on Friday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Grizzlies took a 10-6 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Wolves. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Grizzlies of the 9-5 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2024.

Raelynn Villanueva made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Isabella Lenahan, who scored a run while going 3-for-4.

This is the second loss in a row for Spring Valley and nudges their season record down to 9-5. As for Basic, the victory got them back to even at 7-7.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Spring Valley will take on Eldorado at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. The Grizzlies are facing the Firehawks at the right time seeing as the Firehawks are stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for Basic, they will challenge Sierra Vista at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. The Wolves' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Mountain Lions have averaged an impressive 7.5 runs per game this season.
