Baseball Game Preview: Horizon Hawks vs. Durant Cougars

The Horizon Hawks will face off against the Durant Cougars at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Horizon will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.

Horizon is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Monday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand Riverview a 5-0 shutout.

Horizon saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Sebastian Davila, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-3. That's the most stolen bases Davila has posted since back in February. Another was Hudson Mapes, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI.

Meanwhile, Durant made easy work of Lake Gibson on Monday and carried off a 10-0 win. The Cougars might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven games by seven runs or more this season.

Owen Franklin looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Durant is 8-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 6-7 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Shawn Graves was incredible, going 3-for-4 with four RBI, two doubles, and one run. Brady Kelley was another key player, scoring two runs.

Durant hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their strikeout total in three consecutive matchups.

Horizon's record now sits at 14-11. As for Durant, their record is now 14-8.
