Basketball Recap: Liberty Christian Gets the Win

Liberty Christian hadn't done well against University recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. The Liberty Christian Lions snuck past the University Trailblazers with a 56-51 win. This was payback for the Lions, who suffered a 68-52 loss the last time these two teams met.

Liberty Christian found their leader in sophomore Tamarje English, who went 7 for 13 on his way to 16 points and six rebounds. A'Marien Page was another key player, almost dropping a double-double on ten points and nine rebounds.

Liberty Christian smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in five consecutive games.

When it comes to explaining why University lost, don't look at Max McComb. Despite the final result, he went 6 of 11 on his way to 22 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Faisal Mohamud, who posted 13 points.

Liberty Christian's record is now 4-2. As for University, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-2.

Liberty Christian wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 59-57 victory against Anderson Prep Academy on the 20th. As for University, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 56-40 defeat against Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory on the 20th.
