Baseball Recap: Emery/Weiner Victorious

Emery/Weiner proved they can win big back in February (they won by nine) and on Saturday they proved they can win the close ones too. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Tomball Kings Homeschool 9-8. Emery/Weiner has seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw Tomball Kings, too.

Emery/Weiner let Nathan Kalmin and Bennett Grossman run wild. Kalmin scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances, while Grossman scored two runs and stole Three bases. while going 1-for-5. The dominant performance gave Grossman a new career-high in stolen bases. Dawson Tiras was another key player, scoring a run and stealing Three bases. while going 1-for-4.

Emery/Weiner's record is now 8-6. As for Tomball Kings, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost ten of their last 13 matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-12-1 record this season.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Tomball Kings beat Emery/Weiner by a score of 14-4 later that day.
