Football Recap: Blue Springs Falls Short Against Ranked Staley

Blue Springs faced Staley in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Wildcats took a 21-14 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Falcons. The Wildcats gained 137 more yards on the day, but it was the Falcons that made the best use of them.

Wyatt Erickson threw for 288 yards and two TDs.

Staley was led to victory by Draivyn Colvin and Nick Ballew. Colvin rushed for 58 yards and one touchdown, while Ballew picked up 38 receiving yards and one score. The dominant performance also gave Colvin a new career-high in passer rating (91.8).

Having lost for the first time this season, Blue Springs fell to 3-1. As for Staley, the win got them back to even at 2-2.

Blue Springs wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 41-28 defeat against Lee's Summit North on the 26th. As for Staley, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 49-7 loss against Blue Springs South on the 26th.
