Volleyball Recap: Montgomery Catholic Falls Short Against Ranked Ocean Springs

Montgomery Catholic is ranked highly in their home state and on Saturday they took on another highly ranked team in the form of Ocean Springs. The Knights fell just short of the Greyhounds by a score of 2-1. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Knights of the 2-0 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in September of 2024.

Ocean Springs was led to victory by Alden St. Amant and River Schmidt. St. Amant had eight digs and three assists, while Schmidt had five digs and two aces. That's the most aces Schmidt has posted over her last six contests.

Montgomery Catholic's defeat dropped their record down to 15-5. As for Ocean Springs, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 22-4 record this season.

Coincidentally, Montgomery Catholic and Ocean Springs will both be playing Fairhope the next time they take the court. The Greyhounds will head out to face the Pirates at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, while the Knights will play them later in the day, at 11:00 a.m.
