Baseball Game Preview: Eastwood Eagles vs. Lake Flyers

The Eastwood Eagles will venture away from home to square off against the Lake Flyers at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Eastwood 3.7, Lake 2.4) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Eastwood barely beat Otsego the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Eagles were the clear victors by a 10-4 margin over the Knights on Wednesday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Eagles considering their two-run performance the matchup before.

Kadyn Donnell was incredible, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Colton Woodward was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Eastwood always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .533. The last time their OBP was this high was was before the start of last season.

Meanwhile, Lake had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8.8 runs) and they went ahead and made it six on Wednesday. They never let the Rockets get on the board and left with a 3-0 victory.

Lake's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-3. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.8 runs on average over those games. As for Eastwood, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-3 record this season.
