Softball Recap: Bastrop Takes a Loss

After flying high against Jonesboro-Hodge on Monday, Bastrop came back down to earth. The Rams took a 19-14 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Rayville Hornets on Thursday. The Rams haven't had much luck with the Hornets recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Bastrop got a massive performance out of Jameria Tolbert, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with four stolen bases, two runs, and two doubles. Tolbert has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Kensley Duffie, who went 3-for-4 with five stolen bases, four runs, and three RBI.

Bastrop's defeat dropped their record down to 2-6. As for Rayville, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season.

Bastrop will be playing in front of their home fans against Delhi Charter at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Rayville, they will square off against Claiborne Christian at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.
