Football Recap: Hayfork Timberjacks vs. Loyalton Grizzlies

Hayfork put another one in the bag on Saturday to keep their perfect season alive. Their defense stepped up to hand the Loyalton Grizzlies a 58-0 shutout. Considering the Timberjacks have won six contests by more than 33 points this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Levi Cavalli continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 286 yards and three touchdowns on only 11 carries. His longest rush was for an incredible 82 yards. Devin Nanez was another key player, rushing for 160 yards and two touchdowns on only nine carries.

He was just one part of a punishing run game: Hayfork was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 538 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in October of 2023.

Hayfork didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Cavalli and Mukeng Yang. Cavalli's rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his sixth straight game with at least 116 rushing yards dating back to last season.

Hayfork pushed their record up to 7-0 with the victory, which was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Loyalton, their loss dropped their record down to 4-2.

Hayfork will look to defend their home field on Friday against Chester at 6:00 p.m. Hayfork is facing Chester at the right time seeing as Chester is stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Loyalton, they are taking a road trip to take on Tulelake at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Tulelake's favor is that they have posted at least 31 points in their last three games.
