Softball Recap: San Manuel Sets Scoring Season-High Against Ray

San Manuel had won three straight at home, but on Friday they bumped their record up to 6-10 to make it four. They put the hurt on the Ray Bearcats with a sharp 37-27 win. The Miners' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

San Manuel got a massive performance out of Cienna Maghinay, who fired off three triples, four runs, and five RBI while going 5-for-7. Those five hits gave Maghinay a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Gyannah Mardrid, who went a perfect 5-for-5 with six runs, six RBI, and one triple.

San Manuel was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .655. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .308 or higher in five consecutive matchups.

As for Ray, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-18 record this season. Those defeats can't be blamed on the team's hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.6 runs over those games.

On Ray's side, Krishel Sims made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and got on base in four of her six plate appearances with one home run, seven RBI, and four runs. That home run was Sims' first of the season. Jillian Figueroa was another key player, getting on base in three of her six plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI.

As of now, neither San Manuel nor Ray have any future games scheduled.
