Basketball Recap: Skyline Comes Up Short

Skyline lost against Holy Family back in January of 2022, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Skyline Falcons took a hard 64-48 fall against the Holy Family Tigers. The Falcons were down 47-24 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.

When it comes to explaining why Skyline lost, don't look at Johnny McCray. Despite the final result, he went 7-for-16 on his way to 18 points and three blocks. The dominant performance gave McCray a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jamal Gilliam, who went 5-for-11 to rack up 13 points and five rebounds.

Rocco Howes was nothing short of spectacular for Holy Family: he dropped a double-double with 19 points and 14 boards. Howes is also on a roll when it comes to shooting accuracy, as he's posted one of at least 50% in the last five games he's played. Another player making a difference was Roman Elliott, who posted ten points.

Skyline has been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six contests, which has put a noticeable dent in their 8-13 record this season. As for Holy Family, their win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-8.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Skyline will square off against Centaurus at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Skyline is facing Centaurus at the right time seeing as Centaurus is stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Holy Family, they will take on Legacy at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Legacy's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last four matchups.
