Softball Recap: St. Vincent de Paul Triumphs

It's playoff time, and St. Vincent de Paul had no trouble coming through when it counted. They won by a run and slipped past the Hoopa Valley Warriors 3-2. This was payback for the Mustangs, who suffered a 4-3 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Makayla Bignardi made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out 12 batters over eight innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in March. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Bignardi wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Gracie Murphy, who went 1-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Ava McCarthy also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

The victory got St. Vincent de Paul back to even at 8-8. As for Hoopa Valley, their loss dropped their record down to 10-17.

As of now, neither St. Vincent de Paul nor the Warriors have any future games scheduled.
