Baseball Recap: Palmyra-Macedon Continues Road Dominance on Wednesday

Palmyra-Macedon barely beat Hornell the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. Palmyra-Macedon never let Hornell get on the board and left with an 11-0 victory on Wednesday. Considering Palmyra-Macedon has won seven games by more than six runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Not much got past Tino LoPresto, who gave up just three hits and racked up seven Ks to keep Hornell off the board. LoPresto has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Camron Quick, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two doubles. That's the most doubles he has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Trey Porpora, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.

Palmyra-Macedon was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .379. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Hornell only posted a batting average of .150.

Palmyra-Macedon pushed their record up to 8-2 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.8 runs over those games. As for Hornell, they are on an eight-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-6.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Palmyra-Macedon will square off against Wayne at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Red Raiders 2.4, the Eagles 3.6) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Hornell, they will challenge Geneseo at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
