Basketball Recap: ACERO Garcia Takes a Loss

ACERO Garcia was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They took a blow against the Gage Park Fighting Owls, falling 84-41. While losing is never fun, the Patriots can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 729th, while the Fighting Owls are ranked 353rd).

Gage Park was led to victory by Anton Macklin and Kenneth Wright. Macklin posted 20 points, while Wright put up 18 points. With that strong performance, Wright is now averaging an impressive 15.2 points per game. Tamarion Jude was another key player, putting up eight points.

ACERO Garcia's loss dropped their record down to 1-7. As for Gage Park, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-1.

ACERO Garcia is taking a road trip to challenge Tilden at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. ACERO Garcia is facing Tilden at the right time seeing as Tilden is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Gage Park, they will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Victoria Soto at 4:30 p.m. on January 21st.
