Basketball Recap: O'Connor Comes Up Short

If O'Connor was feeling good fresh off their 63-28 takedown of Boulder Creek last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The O'Connor Eagles took a 56-43 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Pinnacle Pioneers on Friday. The Eagles were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Pioneers earlier this season, when they won 61-57.

When it comes to explaining why O'Connor lost, don't look at Audrey Bhesania. Despite the final result, she almost dropped a double-double with 13 points and nine boards. Another player making a difference was Ava Schooler, who posted nine points in addition to six rebounds and three steals.

Leading Pinnacle to victory were Rylee Fraley and Norah Moo. Fraley went 7 for 16 on her way to 21 points and four steals, while Moo dropped a double-double with ten points and 21 boards. Those 21 points gave Fraley a new career-high. Sloan Bogardus was another key player, putting up nine points.

O'Connor's loss was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 6-1 and their overall record down to 14-8. As for Pinnacle, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 19-5.

O'Connor wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 53-47 win against Desert Vista on the 10th. Pinnacle has also already played their next match (against Mountain Ridge), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
