Softball Game Preview: Cedar Bluff Tigers vs. Piedmont Bulldogs

The Cedar Bluff Tigers will head out to face off against the Piedmont Bulldogs at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Piedmont took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Cedar Bluff, who comes in off a win.

Cedar Bluff is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They put the hurt on Gaston with a sharp 20-9 victory on Thursday. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Tigers as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

Mackenzie Kimmons looked comfortable as she tossed 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. That's the fewest hits she has allowed since back in May of 2024.

At the plate, Kylie Vadon and Rylie Walker did most of the damage at the plate: Vadon went 3-for-4 with four runs, four RBI, and two doubles, while Walker went a perfect 5-for-5 with four runs, four RBI, and one double. Those four RBI gave Vadon a new career-high. Paityn Walker was another key player, scoring four runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-4.

Cedar Bluff was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .389. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, Piedmont came up short against Spring Garden last Friday, falling 9-3. The loss continues a trend for the Bulldogs in their meetings with the Panthers: they've now lost three in a row.

Piedmont's defeat dropped their record down to 2-10. As for Cedar Bluff, their record now sits at 5-7.

Cedar Bluff skirted past Piedmont 2-1 when the teams last played back in April of 2023. The rematch might be a little tougher for Cedar Bluff since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
