Softball Game Preview: Redmond Mustangs vs. Bothell Cougars

The Redmond Mustangs will face off against the Bothell Cougars at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The timing is sure in Redmond's favor as the team sits on three straight wins at home while Bothell has been banged up by four consecutive losses on the road.

Redmond fought the good fight in their extra-innings matchup against Woodinville on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Falcons by a score of 11-10.

Ainsley Barcalow was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out eight over 4.1 innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-5 with one home run, four RBI, and one double.

In other batting news, Maggie Enich made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and got on base in three of her five plate appearances with two runs, one double, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Kati Cygan, who went 2-for-5 with one run and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Bothell fell victim to Liberty and their airtight pitching crew on Wednesday. They came up short against the Patriots, falling 11-0. The game marked the first time this year in which the Cougars were not able to get on the board.

Bothell's defeat dropped their record down to 7-12. As for Redmond, their loss dropped their record down to 15-4-1.

Redmond took their victory against Bothell when the teams last played on April 4th by a conclusive 15-1 score. Do the Mustangs have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Cougars turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
