Baseball Game Preview: Como-Pickton Eagles vs. Yantis Owls

For the second straight game, Como-Pickton will face off against Yantis. It'll be a Battle of the Birds when Como-Pickton Eagles take on Yantis Owls at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.

While Como-Pickton's win against Yantis wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. Como-Pickton came out on top in a nail-biter against Yantis on Tuesday, sneaking past 7-5. The victory continues a trend for the Eagles in their matchups with the Owls: they've now won eight in a row.

BENJAMIN BREWER spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered four earned (and one unearned) runs on three hits and racked up 16 Ks. Those 16 strikeouts gave him a new career-high.

At the plate, JEREMY FLOWERS and SEAN CARPENTER did most of the damage at the plate: FLOWERS scored a run while going 3-for-3, while CARPENTER scored a run while going 2-for-3. Those three hits gave FLOWERS a new career-high. CADE CHILDRESS was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 1-for-3.

Yantis' loss was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 2-7. As for Como-Pickton, their win bumped their record up to 4-11.
