Football Game Preview: Moberly Spartans vs. Southern Boone Eagles

The Moberly Spartans will square off against the Southern Boone Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Moberly will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.

Moberly is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They blew past California, posting a 45-15 win. The Spartans might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three contests by 22 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Southern Boone, who bounced back after a loss on the road two weeks ago. They strolled past Fulton with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 28-14. The Eagles haven't had any issues with the Hornets recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.

Moberly better keep an eye on Mason Shearer. He was instrumental in Southern Boone's win, rushing for 136 yards and one touchdown, while also throwing for 123 yards and three TDs. They are 2-1 when Shearer posts 80 or more rushing yards, but 2-5 otherwise.

The win got Moberly back to even at 5-5. As for Southern Boone, their victory bumped their record up to 4-6.

Moberly won a game that couldn't have been any closer when the teams last played back in November of 2022, slipping by Southern Boone 21-20. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was the Eagles' Chase Morris, who picked up 145 receiving yards and one score, and also threw for 54 yards and one TD.
