Baseball Recap: Hamilton Comes Up Short

Hamilton had lost three straight on the road, but on Friday they dropped their record down to 5-14 to make it four. They came up short against the Santa Rosa Academy Rangers, falling 17-1. Having soared to a lofty 12 runs in the game before, the Bobcats couldn't push the score so high this time.

As for Santa Rosa Academy, with the victory, they broke their four-game losing streak and moved their record to 9-12. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for they considering their one-run performance the match before.

For Santa Rosa Academy's part, Maxwell Dupree made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. That's the most strikeouts Dupree has posted since back in March. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.

In other batting news, Dominic Zagone was a standout: he went 3-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and one triple. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jackson Morace, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base.

Coming up, Hamilton will challenge San Jacinto Leadership Academy at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. The Lions have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.57 runs per game on average), something the Bobcats will no doubt try to take advantage of. Santa Rosa Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
