Tri-Valley - West recap September 17, 2013

The biggest upset of the week belonged to St. Charles, who defeated 330th ranked St. Charles, 31-14.

Fans got a thrill when Logan Gatza and Seth Keinath connected against Michigan Lutheran Seminary. The longest such play in Tri-Valley - West this season, the connection resulted in 75 yards.

Gatza provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Valley Lutheran fell to the Cardinals. He completed 18 passes for 240 yards and 2 touchdowns and also ran for 82 yards. Gatza's key target this week was Keinath, who caught 4 passes for 109 yards.

Keinath was the best receiver in the league this week as the Chargers lost to Michigan Lutheran Seminary. Blake Maurer helped Valley Lutheran's passing attack out by catching 4 balls for 64 yards.

Travis Smith threw for 134 yards and 4 touchdowns. He was 5-5 with 0 interceptions.

Wyatt Towne was the most successful running back in the league this week. He ran for 145 yards on 18 carries as Karl Schmugge's team fell to Karl Schmugge's team. Teammate Owen Heyn added to the ground attack by rushing for 104 yards.

Smith put up the best numbers in passing as Ithaca topped Breckenridge. Smith's favorite target this week was Logan Hessbrook, who caught 2 passes for 91 yards.

As it stands, the Yellowjackets are in first, while Merrill is in fourth.

The Cardinals scaled the state rankings by moving to 317 from 355 this week, the biggest jump in Tri-Valley - West. Michigan Lutheran Seminary climbed the ranks as a result of beating Randy Finney's team 44-32.
