Basketball Recap: Mentor Snags Ninth Victory in Last 12 Games

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Strongsville, Mentor was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They took down the Cleveland Heights Tigers 53-37. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 71-53 back in January.

Cleveland Heights lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Paige Swoope, who posted ten points. Jane Mueller was another key player, putting up four points in addition to seven boards and three steals.

Mentor is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 12 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 15-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.4 points over those games. As for Cleveland Heights, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 13-8 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mentor will host Lakewood at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Cleveland Heights, they will look to defend their home court on Monday against Strongsville at 7:30 p.m. Strongsville will roll in looking for their 11th straight win, something Cleveland Heights surely won't give up without a fight.
