Kassiah Ducworth leads a balanced attack to beat Manitou Springs

Recap: Ellicott Thunderhawks vs. Manitou Springs Mustangs

The Ellicott Thunderhawks won the last time they faced the Manitou Springs Mustangs, and things went their way on Friday too. Ellicott secured a 34-28 W over Manitou Springs. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Ellicott.

Ellicott's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Kassiah Ducworth led the charge by dropping a double-double on 11 points and 11 rebounds. Ducworth is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Nova Erickson, who scored eight points along with ten rebounds and two blocks.

Brooklynn Sheffield and McKesson Rhodes certainly did their best on Friday to try and avoid the loss. Sheffield dropped a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds, while Rhodes scored nine points along with eight rebounds. That was a full 35.7% of Manitou Springs' points, marking the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Cassidy Blechman was another key contributor, scoring two points along with seven rebounds and two steals.

Ellicott's victory bumped their record up to 5-7. As for Manitou Springs, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-8.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Ellicott will play host again and welcome Banning Lewis Academy, where tip off is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Banning Lewis Academy is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last three games. As for Manitou Springs, they will be playing in front of their home fans against The Vanguard School at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
