Softball Game Preview: Millville Quakers vs. Northwest Area Rangers

Millville is 1-7 against Northwest Area since April of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. Millville will square off against Northwest Area at 4:30 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

On Tuesday, Millville came up short against Columbia Montour Vo-Tech and fell 24-21. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game two weeks ago (20), the Quakers still had to take the loss.

Meanwhile, Northwest Area put another one in the bag on Tuesday to keep their perfect season alive. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Greater Nanticoke Area a 10-0 shutout. Fans of the Rangers have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 6+ runs.

Emily Davis made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out eight over six innings pitched. Davis was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 3-for-4.

In other batting news, Northwest Area got a massive performance out of Abygail Miller, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. Jordin Bowman was another key player, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 1-for-3.

Northwest Area kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in eight consecutive contests dating back to last season.

Millville's loss dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Northwest Area, their record is now 3-0.

Millville suffered a grim 18-0 defeat to Northwest Area in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Can Millville avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
