Recap: Crosspoint Christian vs. Rivers of Life Christian Eagles
This season hasn't been kind to Crosspoint Christian, who are still winless after their 13th game. They suffered a rough 39-18 defeat at the hands of Rivers of Life Christian on Friday. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Crosspoint Christian in their matchups with Rivers of Life Christian: they've now lost seven in a row.
Despite the loss, Crosspoint Christian still got an impressive performance from Bekah Petry, who dropped a double-double on 12 rebounds and ten steals. Petry hasn't dropped below two steals for six straight games. Ivana Smith was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with five rebounds.
Even though they lost, Crosspoint Christian smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive rebounds. This was only their tenth loss (out of ten games) when they hit their own glass that hard.
Rivers of Life Christian was led to victory by Hailey Henrichs and Ali Thompson. Henrichs scored 16 points along with seven rebounds and two steals, while Thompson dropped a double-double on 14 points and 13 rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which Henrichs has scored at least a third of Rivers of Life Christian's points. Another player making a difference was Hailey Camren, who scored three points along with three steals.
Crosspoint Christian dropped their record down to 0-13 with that loss, which was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 14.1 points per game. As for Rivers of Life Christian, their win bumped their record up to 2-5.
Crosspoint Christian will head out on the road to square off against Providence Classical Christian Academy at 6:15 p.m. on Monday. Hopefully Providence Classical Christian Academy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 12 on Friday. As for Rivers of Life Christian, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against The Fulton at 5:00 p.m. The Fulton and Rivers of Life Christian are at an even 5-5 over their past ten head-to-heads.
