Baseball Game Preview: Bay Rockets vs. Valley Forge Patriots

For the second straight game, Bay will face off against Valley Forge. The Rockets will venture away from home to challenge the Patriots at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.

Bay took a loss when they played away from home on Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Monday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Valley Forge a 10-0 shutout. The contest marked the Rockets' most dominant victory of the season so far.

Andrew Liatti made a splash no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over five innings pitched. He is becoming a predictor of Bay's success: when he allows at most two hits the team is 3-1 (and 2-5 when he doesn't). Liatti was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with two RBI and one run. Those two RBI gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ryan Egan, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. Those runs marked the first that he has scored this season. Another player making a difference was Jack McManamon, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and two RBI.

Bay always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .643. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Valley Forge is on a 22-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-7. As for Bay, their record is now 5-6.
