Basketball Recap: Keavon Bailey - HS's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Concord Christian Academy over Greenwood Mennonite

If Concord Christian Academy was riding high fresh off their 42-18 takedown of Fairwinds Christian last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Concord Christian Academy Minutemen took a 51-40 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Greenwood Mennonite Flames on Thursday. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Minutemen this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 44-35 back in December of 2024.

Concord Christian Academy's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Keavon Bailey - HS, who almost dropped a double-double on 11 points and nine boards. Bailey - HS is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was David Acevedo, who posted nine points and five rebounds.

It was another big night for Carter Long, who almost dropped a double-double on 25 points and nine boards for Greenwood Mennonite. That makes it three consecutive games in which Long has scored at least a third of Greenwood Mennonite's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Blake Mast, who put up eight points and four steals.

Concord Christian Academy has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-4 record this season. As for Greenwood Mennonite, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 14-0.

Concord Christian Academy has already played their next game (against Calvary Christian Academy), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Greenwood Mennonite has already played their next contest, a 43-33 win against Chestertown Christian Academy on the 31st.
