Softball Recap: Kings Mountain Takes Down North Lincoln in a Playoff Battle

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Kings Mountain had no problem doing just that on Tuesday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the North Lincoln Knights a 3-0 shutout. The victory was familiar territory for the Mountaineers, who have now won six contests in a row.

Not much got past Maddie Huffman, who gave up just a hit and racked up 12 Ks to keep North Lincoln off the board. Huffman has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 13 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Paige Fleming, who went 1-for-3 with one home run. Anna Wooten was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one triple and one RBI.

Kings Mountain's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-3. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.5 runs on average over those games. As for North Lincoln, their defeat dropped their record down to 18-7.

Kings Mountain wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 1-0 loss against East Rowan on the 9th. North Lincoln does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
