Preview: Aurora Huskies vs. Adams Central Patriots
The Aurora Huskies will head out on the road to face off against the Adams Central Patriots at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Aurora fell on hard times earlier this season, but after back-to-back wins it seems like their luck might finally be changing. They enjoyed a cozy 41-27 victory over Central City on Friday.
Maddex Egger had an outrageously good game as he rushed for 297 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 7.2 yards per carry. Egger was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 52 yards. Julian Hernandez was in the mix too, providing Aurora with two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Adams Central took their game on the road on Friday with ease, bagging a 41-6 win over Fairbury. Given Adams Central's advantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska football rankings (they are ranked 26th, while Fairbury is ranked 122nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Adams Central can attribute much of their success to Jackson Sughroue, who rushed for 35 yards and a touchdown, and also threw for 144 yards and a touchdown while completing 84.6% of his passes. The team also got some help courtesy of Nick Conant, who rushed for 35 yards and two touchdowns.
Aurora has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season. As for Adams Central, their win bumped their record up to 8-1.
Aurora couldn't quite finish off Adams Central in their previous meeting on October 6th and fell 21-19. Can Aurora avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
