Baseball Recap: Wheeler Find Success

Wheeler's game last Tuesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Saturday. They came out on top against the Houlka Wildcats by a score of 5-0. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Eagles also won the last time the pair played back in April of 2024.

Peirce Spencer was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out eight over five innings pitched. Wheeler is 3-1 when Spencer allows two or fewer hits, but 6-9 otherwise. Spencer was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Sam Johnson, who went 2-for-3 with four RBI, one run, and one double. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Carson Mears was another key player, scoring a run while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.

Wheeler's record now sits at 9-10. As for Houlka, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-12 record this season.

Wheeler didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, an 18-0 defeat against Biggersville on the 8th. As for Houlka, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 5-0 loss against Vardaman on the 8th.
