Basketball Preview: Pleasant Grove Vikings vs. American Fork Cavemen
After two games on the road, Pleasant Grove is heading back home. They will take on the American Fork Cavemen at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Pleasant Grove has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
Pleasant Grove struggled with assists last Friday (the Pioneers had seven more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Pleasant Grove ended up on the wrong side of a rough 69-46 walloping at the hands of the Pioneers. Pleasant Grove was down 54-34 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.
Despite the defeat, Pleasant Grove saw an underclassman step up: Tabi Clark scored 15 points along with five blocks. Amber Cook was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with six rebounds.
Meanwhile, American Fork's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fourth straight defeat. They fell just short of Lehi by a score of 52-49. American Fork has struggled against the Pioneers recently, as their game on Friday was their third consecutive lost matchup.
Pleasant Grove's defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 10-8. As for American Fork, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-10 record this season.
Things could have been worse for Pleasant Grove, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 46-32 loss to the Cavemen in their previous matchup back in January.
