Baseball Game Preview: South Elgin Storm vs. Ridgewood Rebels

The South Elgin Storm will head out on the road to square off against the Ridgewood Rebels at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. South Elgin's hitters haven't had much luck over their past four contests, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

On Tuesday, South Elgin came up short against Geneva and fell 5-2.

Kyle Iott was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, South Elgin saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Colin Tuftedal, who scored a run while going 1-for-3. Tyler Weeks also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

Meanwhile, Ridgewood suffered their closest loss since May 13, 2024 on Tuesday. They fell just short of Wheaton Academy by a score of 3-1. The defeat continues a trend for the Rebels in their meetings with the Warriors: they've now lost six in a row.

Ridgewood's loss dropped their record down to 6-4. As for South Elgin, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-8.
